Ready For Your Home To Work For The Life You’re Actually Living?
Environment design & Montessori-driven home organization that works for your actual life
You're not a messy person… you're a really busy one.
You run the meetings, manage the schedules, remember everyone else's everything — and somehow your home is still the one thing that hasn't caught up with the rest of your life.
You've bought the bins, you've watched the videos, uou reorganized the same closet twice, and you even tried Marie Kondo’ing the shit out of every room. And somehow, three weeks later, you're right back where you started.
Here's the truth nobody in the home organizing or decluttering world wants to say out loud:
The system didn't fail because you're undisciplined. It failed because it was never built specifically for you.
Luckily, with my help, it's fixable.

// Meet The Method Behind The Magic
I design home environments built around the specific people inside them — using Montessori-based principles that work at every age, every stage, and every season of life.
The Montessori Method in the past century has proved one thing: when you design a space around the person living in it, everything changes: independence increases, stress decreases, and the environment stops fighting you and starts working for you.
Most people think Montessori is just for kids' classrooms, but it’s not. The core principle — build the environment for the human inside it — applies whether you're 4 or 44. Whether you're a family of five, a solo professional, or somewhere in between, TOPE 805 is ready to design a space for you.
Hi — I'm Jean Marie, and I'm not your average organizer.
I spent years in Montessori education observing what happened when you designed the right environment for a child. The independence that showed up, the calm it created, and the way everything just... worked. Then I started noticing what happened to adults living in the wrong environment. The low-grade stress, the mental load, and the daily friction of a home that was set up for nobody in particular.
That's when I realized: the principles that change everything for a four-year-old? They change everything for a forty-year-old too.
So I started The Organized Prepared Environment better known as TOPE 805 — and I've been designing homes that actually work for the humans inside them ever since.
I'm based in Santa Barbara and I serve the Central Coast. I work with families, professionals, couples, empty nesters, and everyone in between. My approach is always the same: start with the person, not the space, ask the right questions, and build something real. I always say, “I’ve got ideas, some of them are even pretty good!”

TOPE 805 stands for The Organized Prepared Environment — a concept rooted in Montessori philosophy that every home should be intentionally designed for the people living in it. Founded by Jean Marie Driskel and based in Santa Barbara, CA, TOPE 805 offers Montessori-based home organization and environment design services for families and individuals throughout the Central Coast of California. The "805" is our area code — and a nod to the community we love serving.

Not at all — and this is probably the question we get most. TOPE 805 started with Montessori-inspired children's spaces, but the method applies to every human at every stage of life. Whether you're a busy professional, a family of five, an empty nester resetting your home, or somewhere in between, the core principle is the same: your environment should be built around how you actually live. I work with individuals and families of all ages across Santa Barbara, Montecito, and the Central Coast.

Most home organizers arrive with a system. I arrive with questions. Every TOPE 805 project begins with a thorough evaluation of the specific people in the home — their habits, rhythms, and daily realities — before a single thing gets moved. The Montessori-based methodology means every system we build is designed for the humans inside that home, not a generic template. The result isn't just a tidy space — it's one that actually functions and that you can maintain long-term because it was built around how you already live.

First — absolutely no judgment. I have seen every kind of home in every kind of state, that has never changed how I show up. Your first session begins with a conversation about how you live, what's working and what’s not. Along with what your ideal home actually feels like day-to-day. From there, I evaluate your space through the lens of your life — not a Pinterest board — and get to work building systems that actually make sense for you. Most clients describe the experience as having a present, honest friend who happens to be good at this.
